Information Questions and Tips
(information found at www.huntersfriend.com)
IS IT
JUST A CAMO STICKER?
It's more than
that. Camoclad material is much more sophisticated than just your basic
"bumper sticker" material. Camoclad is made from ultra-durable, 5 mil thick
3M Vinyl sheets - the best quality material available for this type of
application. Each imprinted sheet of Control-Tac vinyl incorporates a
weatherproof 2 part adhesive system, so it goes on easy, bonds tight, looks
great, and can literally last for a decade or more. All Camoclad products have
a proprietary protective coat that ensures the colors will not fade and will
hold up to the extreme elements of nature (sunlight, snow, ice, water, dirt,
etc….)
HOW DOES IT GO ON?
Even though Camoclad is a heavy-duty Vinyl sheet, it essentially goes on by a
simple peel, stick, and set method. The back of the Camoclad covering
features 3M's patented Pressure Activated Adhesive system, allowing Camoclad
sheets to be easily positioned and repositioned during installation to get the
perfect placement, without wrestling with premature adhesion. Once you have
the camo coverings where you want them, just use a squeegee to activate the
secondary adhesive and your Camoclad is done. Camoclad should be allowed to
sit for 24 hours before daily use and washing begin. Watch the
Application Tutorial Video for more
details on the installation process. Complete instructions and installation
tools are included with your kit as well.
ONCE INSTALLED, IS
IT REMOVABLE?
Yes. The ALL PURPOSE, or REMOVABLE Camoclad is not a permanent application.
The Vinyl coverings can be peeled-up and removed at any time. And Camoclad
WILL NOT harm painted surfaces or clear coat finishes. In fact, Camoclad
protects your vehicle's finish. If you ever remove your Camoclad coverings,
the paint underneath will be just as pristine as the day you installed your
Camoclad. So during its years of use, Camoclad preserves your expensive
vehicle by protecting it from chips, scratches, acid-rain, and sun fade. So
for full-vehicle applications, Camoclad often returns its entire cost later in
the form of increased resale value on your vehicle.
Camoclad does offer permanent material as well for application on vehicles
such as boats, ATVs, and 4-wheelers. The customer should be 100% certain that
they want the Camoclad on for the life of the vehicle when applying the
Permanent Camoclad.
DOES IT HAVE TO BE
PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED?
No. Some customers prefer to take the Camoclad to our national network of
certified installers, but many of our customers put the Camoclad Vinyl Kits on
themselves. All you'll need is a razor blade (included), a squeegee
(included), a measuring tape, and a couple pairs of strong hands. There are
no bonding chemicals or special processes necessary. Vehicle accent and
smaller projects can often be completed in just an afternoon. For larger
projects, like a full-vehicle application, you and a friend can complete the
work in just a weekend.
HOW MUCH DO I NEED?
Camoclad is sold in "kits" which are already sized appropriately for the job
(vehicle) you intend to cover. For example, the standard "Truck Kit" includes
240 sq. ft. of Camoclad camo wrap, enough to cover just about any pickup on
the road including: full size standard-cab pickups with long or short beds, 2
door Blazers and Tahoes, Dodge Durangos, Broncos, and 2 door Ford Explorers
(to name a few). You can also get additional pieces separately if you plan to
cover your camper shell, truck bed, dash board, or other extra surfaces.
Although every vehicle has a different total surface area, the kit allocations
are typically quite generous. When the job is complete, most customers report
having some materials "left-over" to use elsewhere.
HOW MUCH DOES
CAMOCLAD COST?
Camoclad costs between $3.75 - $5-50 per sq. ft. Individual sheets and
smaller accent kits are a little more (per sq. ft.) and the larger
full-vehicle kits are a little less (per sq. ft.). There is no premium or
up-charge for any particular camouflage pattern. Your only other additional
costs will be a delivery charge and the cost of purchasing your wax & grease
remover (DuPont Prep-Sol or similar) which sells for roughly $18 p/gal. at
hardware and automotive supply stores.
So assuming you perform your own installation, you can complete a typical
truck accent project for $150-$350, depending on the size of your accent and
the total amount of material needed. You can complete a full head-to-toe
vehicle application for roughly $450-$1000, again - depending on the size your
vehicle.
Camoclad Accent Kits
(information found at www.huntersfriend.com)
Create your own custom Camoclad Camo Wrap
The only limit is your imagination! Camoclad Truck Accent Kits come in a
variety of sizes and all 15 camo patterns. So there's a kit to suit any
application and style. You just have to decide if you want to go mild, wild,
or somewhere in the middle. There is no right or wrong. It's your truck! So
make it the way YOU want it.
Maybe you want your effect to be subtle - perhaps a classy rocker panel accent
to add a touch of rugged distinction. Or maybe you want to make a bold
statement and clad the entire center contour. Maybe you have some creative
ambitions for a truly radical scalloped look. It's up to you!
Either way, your Camoclad truck will be unique - one of a kind. So whether
you go mild, wild, or somewhere in-between, everyone is going to know YOUR
truck when they see it.......as they should!
So where do you begin?
The first step is to measure your truck. Accent material comes in long
"strips". So you'll just need two basic measurements: how long the strips
need to be and how wide they'll need to be.
LENGTH: The Camoclad accent material comes in 30' or 40' total lengths. Half
goes on one side of the truck, half on the other. For a short-wheel base
truck (Jeep, Ranger, S-10, Compact SUV, etc.) the 30' kit will likely be
enough. For longer wheel base vehicles (Full Size Pick-Ups, Suburbans,
Expeditions, Denalis, etc.) the 40' length will probably be required. But to
know for sure, you should measure before you order your Camoclad. EXAMPLE:
You intend to do a rocker panel accent and the total length along the side of
the vehicle is 18 ft. In this case, you'll need roughly 36' of material. So
you'll need to order the 40' length accent kit.
WIDTH: Camoclad accent material is available in widths of 8", 11.5", 15", and
23". The correct choice will depend on the width of the area where you want
to install it. For example, if you want to add Camoclad from the lower door
molding down, you'll need to measure the distance from the molding to the
bottom of the door or rocker panel. Find the widest point and then add 2"
to allow for trimming and folding around door edges. You can always trim away
a small amount of excess, but you can't stretch a short piece to make it fit.
So if in doubt, order the larger size. If you intend to install your Camoclad
between body contour lines or effect panels (like the black truck at left),
you'll need to measure the widest point between those two contour lines and
again add 2".
SPECIAL NOTE: Large or scalloped accents may require using standard
half-sheets (2.5' x 4') rather than accent strips. If your width exceeds 21",
you may want to consider using the larger half sheets (30" wide).
How to Order
Once you have your measurements, you're ready to order. You can choose your
accent kit in any of the 15 popular camo patterns and choose from the 8
available sizes or half-sheets:
